Fluttershy: "Um, Twilight? Do you have any better books on anatomy? I'm trying to study for my vet license renewal and...I found out Angel doesn't have anatomy. Or internal organs for that matter. Then I looked up this book and found out we don't have anatomy either! Or internal organs!" Twilight: "Uh, Fluttershy..." Fluttershy: "Have I been treating nonexistent tummyaches?!"
We've seen fear, cute, and Flutterrage...what would Fluttershy look like when she has an existential crisis?
That's almost exactly the same as what I do (although I'm making vectors) I do put the eyes on top though. Does SAI have support for clipping masks? Because if so, it seems to me that you could use one on the horn instead of making two separate mane pieces.
You can use a clipping mask in Sai. You have two layers, the bottom base layer that it will be locked to and the top layer that will be clipped. On the top layer, select it and then check the box above the layers titled "Clipping Group." You can create multiple layers like this. There's also the ability to lock the layer itself and color on it without going outside the silhouette. Select the layer and check the box "Preserve Opacity."
In case I didn't make any sense, here are some nice basic overviews of all the tools of SAI and how they work! [link][link][link][link] Using the lineart function specifically (works well for a mouse too): [link]
